Congratulations to January 2010's student athlete of the month, Melissa Ovalle. A Senior, Melissa is a great student, not to mention a "triple threat" lettering in basketball volleyball, and softball at Sunnybrook Christian Academy in San Antonio.

"She is the point guard and captain of our basketball team, the Lady Lions. Melissa displays her leadership qualities in quiet, but effective ways. She can readily score though she prefers to 'dish' a pass to a teammate. She leads the team in assists. If they need a quick pick up, she drives and scores.

She comes through on the free-throw line especially in 'clutch' situations. She excels in higher mathematics with a current GPA of 3.64. She plans to attend pharmaceutical school.

She is a pitcher on the softball team and a setter and captain of the volleyball team" - Dr. Gilbert D. Perez (Her Pastor and Head Basketball Coach).

"Melissa is a strong 'finish what you start' young lady with a desire to learn. She is also involved with cheerleading and sings in the chapel band. While she does all this, she has maintained A/B Honor roll throughout her high school years, and is currently ranked #3 in her entire class." - Mr. James Hatch (Upper School Principal)
