Larry Dean Johnston
Larry has more than 20 years of experience holding a variety of roles with a diverse and progressive athletic background at the collegiate level as well high school, junior high and elementary schools. He has served as an educational and athletic leader within diverse communities managing policies, regulations and procedures to ensure student excellence. Larry has helped design and implement new collegiate athletic facilities along with strength and conditioning programs for both high school and university level athletic programs. He has been a representative at the state level for the Commission on Athletics, Western States Conference and Orange Empire Conference in California. He has completed collegiate athletic department accreditation program reviews and has served in the capacity of chairman for other collegiate athletic department program reviews.
Larry received a full academic and sports scholarship for Track and Field. He is a five-time academic All-American in Track and Field and was part of an NAIA National Championship Track and Field team. Larry is a 1996 Olympic Trails Qualifier for the Hammer Throw. Larry earned his bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University and his Master’s of Science degree in Kinesiology from California State University Fullerton. He is currently pursuing his doctorate in Theology and Christian Counseling from Christian Bible College and Seminary.
Larry has been married 25 years, has a wonderful daughter and lives in Leander, Texas. Larry enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and is an avid collector of children’s toys and books from the 1930’s -1940’s.
